I currently hold editorial positions with three publications:[out of nothing], Black Clock and Imipolex Press. I have also performed editorial services for a number of other publications, most prominently Bagatellen. I am co-founder and co-editor (alongside Janice Lee and Eric Lindley) of [out of nothing], an electronic publication featuring new works in image, sound, text and the digital arts, as well as works located at the intersections between these media. In my role as co-editor, I am responsible for all journal operations, including, but not limited to: establishing the aesthetic character of the publication; setting production and publication schedules; soliciting work; reviewing and assessing submissions; assembling content for individual issues; designing and laying-out individual issues; copy-editing, proofing and collaborating with writers and artists on the final appearance of their work; managing copyrights; and promoting the publication and building readership. My current title on the Black Clock masthead is "Assistant Managing Editor." Black Clock is a literary journal edited by Steve Erickson and published semi-annually by the California Institute of the Arts in association with the Institute's MFA Writing Program. My primary duties at the magazine are: to review unsolicited submissions; to copy-edit magazine content; to produce magazine blurns and other promotional copy; to serve as magazine liaison to independent booksellers and other sales partners; to assist with the management of the magazine's information resources (inventory, subscriber lists, funding opportunities database, etc.); to assist with the management of the magazine website; to provide editorial oversight for magazine's blog; and to collaborate with an editorial staff of up to 15 individuals on managing the promotion of the magazine via direct sales, advertising, special events and other initiatives. Imipolex Press is a chapbook press dedicated to the promotion and preservation of heteronymic literature. It is, at this time, essentially a one-man, sweat-equity operation. If you are interested in learning more about the press, its titles and its activities, please visit the Imipolex Press website and / or the Imipolex Press blog. I am available for freelance editorial work. I have extensive experience with copy-editing, proofing, and writing promotional copy. I am also happy to fufill a consulting role. If you are interested in procuring my editorial services, please see "contact." below for more information. I also offer a range of professional services to authors. I can proofread and / or copy-edit your manuscript, provide writing coaching and / or mentorship, offer critique(s) and even consult with you on how to secure an agent and / or publisher for your manuscript.
