Presently, I am at work completing the following manuscripts:
Excerpts from all of the above are available for perusal. For more information about my most recent publications, see "writing." below. I am editor and proprietor of Imipolex Press, a chapbook press dedicated to the promotion and preservation of heteronymic literature. Imipolex's inaugural title, The Division of Cultural Signifiers: Texas (North Central) / California (Southern), is currently available in a limited edition of 100 copies signed by both author Dr. Emory Johnson and artist Tejas Kadamannaya. For more information about Imipolex Press, see "editing." below, or visit the Imipolex website. In 2010, I self-released, via the web, a series experimental sound pieces under the names "The Vitrines," "Zellowpeck," and "DJ Obvious." For more information, see "design." below, or visit the Slowstudies Radio website. Since August of 2009, I have served as the Director of Community Education and Outreach at The Writer's Garret, an independent literary center located in Dallas, TX. My main responsibilities at the Garret are to develop programming and classes for adults and to provide both administrative oversight and aesthetic direction for the organization's continuing education program, CAMP. Since the autumn of 2009, I have re-designed the two courses that form the core of the CAMP curriculum ("The Elements of Creative Writing" and "The Contemporary Writer: Practices And Practicalities"), added features to the program in support of a "common student experience," taken the lead on the organization's distance learning initiatives, and offered lead instruction for a variety of classes. I will be teaching two courses through the Garret in the spring of 2011: "The Elements of Creative Writing" (12 weeks) and "The Contemporary Writer: Practices And Practicalities" (10 weeks.) Since the autumn of 2008, I have been teaching a survey course of my own design in the Humanities, one covering global culture from prehistory to the postmodern era, at Collin College. With Janice Lee and Eric Lindley, I co-edit the online journal [out of nothing]. Our fourth issue was published in September of 2010. A print anthology and additional online installment are planned for the Spring and Summer, respectively, of 2011. With Janice Lee and Laura Vena, I curate interdisciplinary arts events under the auspices of Strophe. We are currently at work on a critical / creative monograph based on our individual and collective research on the topic of "possible narratives." As Assistant Managing Editor for the literary magazine Black Clock, I help manage the magazine's production, open submissions period, and, as a contributing editor, blog. |
